Its already 12 in the clock and you are scrolling down your Facebook account or may be engaged with some group chatting on Whatsapp. You have to wake up early in the morning and you must be trying to fall asleep somehow. Facebook and Whatsapp ain’t gonna work. Poor sleep can ruin your days. It takes a toll on everything to overall health from your job to sex life. Poor sleep affects you much more than you can think. It leads to feelings of depression, anger and hostility. Along with this it also gets you high risk of diabetes.
Here are 5 ways to sleep faster-
1. Listen to soothing music
Try to avoid all annoying noises including your snoring husband or even the ticking sound of alarm clock. You can avoid these noises with the help of some soothing music. You can also check iTunes for sleep friendly sounds. It will make you fall asleep in few minutes. Do not plug in your hurting earphones. You can try SleepPhones instead.
2. Prepare your body for a good sleep-
Try some progressive relaxation technique. Catherine Darley, ND, Director of the Institute of Naturopathic Sleep Medicine, Seattle suggests a particular technique. Curl your toes for a count of seven, keep it and then relax. Do the same with each muscle group and then relax.
3. Note everything-
Take note of everything from the time you wake up to the time you go to sleep. You just need to include your sleeping time, your calorie intake, your exercises in that. You can also consider sharing this sleep log with a specialist. How much caffeine you have taken? How much did you exercise? Include everything!
4. Keep it cool-
Keep the temperature of your room low. People doze off easier when the room temperature is on the cooler side. You can also try a cooling mattress pad or set your thermostat to 65 degrees.
5. Switch off your phone-
Switch off all the electronic appliances and especially your phone. Calls and messages as even a notification sound can disturb your sleep and affect your sub conscious mind.
